Smara (refugee camps), March 4, 2014 (SPS) - Nigeria’s ambassador in Algiers Mr. Haruna Ginsau has declared Tuesday from the Saharawi refugee camps that the security and stability in the African continent "urgently need" an independent Saharawi state.
In a reception in honour of the Nigerian delegation which arrived today in the Saharawi Republic (SADR), the Nigerian diplomat indicated that an independent Saharawi state is an urgent need for establishing security and stability in Africa.
He reiterated Nigeria’s firm and solid position towards the Saharawi cause, calling for the need to conduct a referendum on self-determination for the Saharawi people.
It is noteworthy that a Nigerian ministerial delegation has set foot today in the Saharawi refugee camps.
The delegation delivered about 100 tonnes of different food elements, donated by the First Lady of Nigeria, Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan.
The delegation, led by Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory Ms. Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide, is composed of a number of the Nigerian President’s advisors for woman affairs, ambassador in Algiers, prominent female personalities, and some members of the Nigerian Relief Agency. (SPS)
