Saharawi prisoners start alarming hunger strike

Submitted on

Eit Melloul (Morocco), March 6, 2014 (SPS) - More than 40 Saharawi prisoners, incarcerated in Eit Melloul’s Prison, started as from yesterday, Wednesday, a 48-hour alarming hunger strike, said a media source from the occupied Saharawi territories.

The group launched the hunger strike as a protest to the deterioration of their conditions inside the prison, within which three Saharawi prisoners died in less than a year as a result of torture, ill-treatment and negligence.

They held the prison’s director responsible of what will result from ignoring their legitimate demands, confirming that the move came after all methods of dialogue with the Prison’s administration failed. (SPS)
