SADR takes part at meeting on justice, legal affairs and human rights

Addis Ababa, May 14, 2014 (SPS) - Saharawi Republic (SADR) has participated to the 1st session of the Government Legal Experts of Specialized Technical Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs, which took place in Addis Ababa on May 6-14, 2014.


SADR was represented at this meeting by Mr. Abba Al-Heisan, members of the Constitutional Council and Secretary General of Saharawi Jurists Union, along with Mr. Mohamed Al-Mahjub Abdallahi.


The Saharawi Republic was elected to the bureau of the Committee as the third vice chair.


The meeting examined several protocols and conventions, of which the Draft Protocol to the Constitutive Act of the African Union and the Pan-African Parliament, Draft Protocol on Amendments to the Protocol on the Statute of the African Court on Justice and Human Rights, Draft Rules of Procedure of the STC on Justice and Legal Affairs and Human Rights, Draft Protocol on the Establishment of the African Monetary Fund, draft African Union Convention on Cyber Security and African Charter on the Values and Principles of Decentralisation, Local Governance and Local Development.


The draft report of the experts will be submitted for adoption to the meeting of Ministers of Justice and Attorneys General, Ministers responsible for Issues such as Human Rights, Constitutionalism and Rule of Law, scheduled to take place on the 15 and 16 May 2014 at AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia.
