Ministry of Culture calls for protection of Saharawi culture (Press Release)

Shaheed Hafed, May 19, 2014 (SPS) - Ministry of Culture called Sahrawis in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, southern Morocco and Moroccan universities to preserve the cultural heritage of the Saharawi people against the "evil" plans of the Moroccan occupation to eliminate everything that characterizes the Sahrawi people.

 

The Ministry of Culture has warned against the "serious violation of the Saharawi national memory and harm to the Saharawi historical and cultural legacy" through the institutionalization of Hassania language, prohibition of tents and other forms of culture of the people of Western Sahara by the Moroccan authorities, according to a statement received by SPS on the occasion of the international Museum Day.

 

The Saharawi people who suffered systematic genocide through the napalm and white phosphorus bombings against the camp of Oumdreiga and arrests in different Moroccan prisons, " rejects attempts of Morocco to make Western Sahara  Moroccan and eliminate the cultural heritage of its people, "the source added.
