AU Peace and Security Council marks 10th anniversary

Addis Ababa, May 27, 2014 (SPS) - As part of the closing ceremony of the year-long celebrations of 50th OAU/AU anniversary, the Peace and Security Council of the African Union commemorated Sunday its 10th anniversary at the Nelson Mandela Hall of the new Conference Building in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia.


Several festivities took place to mark the occasion, of which an open meeting that brought together all member states of the African Union, representatives of the embassies and organizations accredited to the AU.


Assessing PSC’s efforts in conflict resolution and creating favorable conditions for security, peace and stability and development and prosperity in Africa, the meeting stressed the need to complete the decolonization process of Africa and put pressure on the UN Security Council so to organize the referendum in Western Sahara.


The Saharawi Republic (SADR) was represented at this meeting by a delegation led by Mr. Lamine Baali, permanent representative to the AU and ambassador in Addis Ababa, and comprised of Mr.Mustafa Mohamed Fadel, secretary general of culture ministry, Hamdi Allal Daf, director of arts and folk traditions, Jatri Azzein Ahmed Baba, director for research and studies, and the artists Mohamed Abeicha and Yahya Sidahmed Rahal.
