Algiers, June 20, 2014 (SPS) - The right of Sahrawi people to self-determination has been strongly reaffirmed Thursday in Algiers at the conference of support and solidarity, organized by the National Organization for Solidarity (ONSA).

“The cause of Sahrawi people deserves greater and more effective mobilization, in accordance with the international law,” he head of ONSA, Karoun Tahar said in his opening address.

He also called for the “immediate and unconditional release” of all Sahrawi political prisoners held in Moroccan jails.

Karoun insisted on the “important” role of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for the defence and promotion of the Sahrawi question.

“The Sahrawi people is colonized and oppressed,” he said, recalling the testimonies of Sahrawi human rights activists and foreign observers. (SPS)
