Uruguay First Lady calls for end to suffering of Saharawi people

Montevideo, July 26th, 2014 (SPS)- The member of the House of Representatives (the Senate) and the First Lady of Uruguay, Lucia Topolanshe,stressed the need of supporting the Saharawi question for ending the suffering of the Sahrawi people during her meeting with Saharawi delegation led by the Secretary General of Sahrawi Wome, Fatma Elmehdi.

 

The Saharawi official who took part in the seminar of the Progressive Alliance in Montevideo, met with most of the members led by Lucie Topolanshe and informed them of the latest developments of the question of Western Sahara, including serious human rights violations against Saharawi people perpetrated by Morocco in the occupied parts of Western Sahara.

 

The meeting also was an opportunity to review the achievements in the promotion of the Saharawi woman on political, social and cultural development, while stressing the need to create a mechanism of joint work between Sahrawi women and Uruguayan women in various areas, including training, development and exchange of experience between the two parties.
