Moroccan authorities expel Basque media delegation from Smara occupied city

Smara (Occupied Territories) August 6, 2014 (SPS) -  The Moroccan authorities expelled Wednesday a three journalists from the Basque region, Spain, from the occupied city of Smara, who were on a visit to find out the situation in the city under siege, according to the Ministry of the Occupied Territories and Community Abroad.

 

The source indicated that the Basque media delegation was heading to the occupied city of El Aaiun, when it was intercepted by a Moroccan police patrol and expelled it to the Moroccan city of Agadir.

 

The delegation had toured the occupied city of Smara and acquainted with the details of the siege imposed on the city and the graphics and slogans in support of the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination, independence and rejecting the Moroccan occupation.

 

The delegation also met with various Saharawi human rights activist in the occupied city of Smara and discussed with them the repression of the Moroccan authorities to the demonstrations that demand the right to self-determination, more freedoms and respect for human rights in the Western Sahara (SPS)
