Submitted on

Murcia (Spain), October 7, 2014 (SPS) - The President of the General Assembly of the Autonomous Region of Murcia (Parliament), Francisco Vidal Celdrán, expressed support for the just struggle of the Saharawi people for freedom and self-determination, stressing that a motion recommending the "immediate and unconditional" release of Saharawi political prisoners will be adopted soon.

These statements were made during a meeting with member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Speaker of the National council, Khatri Adouh, who informed about the latest developments of the question of Western Sahara in light of the obstacles placed by the Moroccan government before any solution to the self-determination of the Saharawi people.

The alarming situation of human rights in the occupied territories due to human rights violations committed by the Moroccan government and the policy of looting of Western Sahara natural resources were also at the center of the discussion.

In addition, the Saharawi official who was companied by the Polisario Front representative in Murcia, Mohamed Labat, held talks with the spokespersons of the party of the parliamentary majority and the socialist parliamentary group.

The talks focused on bilateral relations and ways to develop them, and the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Saharawi refugee camps, caused by the severe humanitarian assistance shortage due to the international economic crisis.

The two parliamentary groups condemned the Moroccan repression, the last victim was the Saharawi human rights activist, Hasanna Elouali, and the state of siege imposed on the occupied territories of Western Sahara and against its access by human rights organizations, international observers and independent media.

The Saharawi delegation also met with the parliamentary group "Peace and freedom for Western  Sahara", during  which Mr. Adouh recalled that the problem of Western Sahara is a problem of unfinished decolonization and must be solved in accordance with the requirements of international legitimacy.
