Kim Bolduc affirms necessity of finding “just and lasting” solution to conflict in Western Sahara

 Wilaya of Smara (Refugee Camps), February 7, 2015 (SPS) – The UN Secretary General Special Representative for Western Sahara, Head of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO), Ms. Kim Bolduc, expressed her belief in the necessity of finding a” just and lasting” solution to the conflict in Western Sahara and the need for establishing peace and security in the region which the United Nations has been working on since 60 years.

 

Ms. Bolduc added in a statement after her talks with the Sahrawi authorities “These principles that we believe in and we believe that our world without peace cannot be a world of humanity and we are working with the parties and the United Nations is well aware of the need to reach a solution in the region and we are working in this regard and for the respect of human rights and to find a solution in the region.”

 

The head of the MINURSO, affirmed that in the past eight months she had been monitoring the situation constantly through the working teams in Western Sahara and the Saharawi refugee camps, there had been permanent contact and follow-up of her work. (SPS)
