Responsibility lies with UN to end tragedy of Saharawi people

 Shaheed Elhafed (Refugee Camps), February 16, 2015 (SPS) -President of the Saharawi delegation to the negotiations Khatri Addouh hold  Sunday "the United Nations responsible for ending the tragedy of the Saharawi people", represented by the Secretary General, his Personal Envoy and the Security Council.

 

"It is no longer possible to continue in this situation of fait accompli," said Khatri after talks with Christopher Ross, Personal Envoy of the UN SG for Western Sahara, noting that "it is time to put an end to the aggression against the Saharawi Arab Republic and the Saharawi people, and its illegal occupation by Morocco."

 

The Saharawi official, on this occasion, called on the UN to "stop Morocco’s policy marked by the delay for the settlement of the Saharawi issue, the dangerous violations of human rights in Western Sahara and the plundering of wealth on its territory."

 

"This meeting comes nine months after the suspension of the efforts of the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary General in the absence of a Moroccan will to find a just and peaceful solution to enable the exercise by the Saharawi people of its right to self-determination and independence ", said the President of the Saharawi delegation to the negotiations.

 

Khatri Addouh added that "the talks that were held with Christopher Ross on the resumption of the negotiation process and the report to be submitted in April to the Security Council by the SG of the UN, will be deepened this afternoon." (SPS)
