National Union of Saharawi Women elected head of ECOSOCC Women and Equality Committee

Cairo, March 1, 2015 (SPS) The general secretary of the National Union of Saharawi Women (NUSW), Fatma El Mehdi, was elected as president of the Women's Committee and Equality in Economic, Social and African Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) during its second General Assembly opened Thursday in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

 During its third day, the General Assembly witnessed the presentation of numerous conferences on development strategies, climate change, agriculture, infrastructure and transport, in light of the 2063 agenda of the AU.

 The Saharawi Republic was represented at the meeting by a delegation including Fatma El Mehdi, the SG of the NUSW and Mohamed Cheikh Mohamed Lehbib, Secretary General of the Union of Saharawi Workers (UGTSARIO).

 The Saharawi delegation met with Mr. shilinki, president of ECOSOCC who condemned the decision of the Crans Montana Forum to hold its next edition in occupied city of Dakhla, urging ECOSOCC to adopt a clear position consistent with the international legality and law.

They also had numerous meetings with the organizations of the African civil society. (SPS)
