SADR underlines urgent need to restore peace and security in Africa

Lusaka, March 4, 2015 (SPS) - The Permanent Representative to the AU and Ambassador in Ethiopia, Mr. Lamine Baali, on Tuesday underlined the urgent need to restore peace and security in Africa by completing the decolonization process, calling for concerted efforts to achieve sovereignty over the entire continent.


Speaking before the AU permanent ambassadors’ meeting to examine the 1st Ten Year Implementation Plan for Agenda 2063, the Saharawi Ambassador stressed the urgent need to reinstate peace and security in Africa based on the completion of decolonization process in the continent.


“Progress on the ground cannot, in any way, be achieved without peace and security. To reach that goal, continental efforts must be redoubled to complete the sovereignty and decolonization of Africa,” said Mr. Lamine Baali.


At the AU committee on youth and women empowerment, Media and Cultural Attaché at the Saharawi Permanent Mission to the AU, Wadadi Salek, gave a detailed presentation about the Saharawi Republic’s experience in the fields of youth and women empowerment.


He pointed out that the SADR has yet achieved advanced levels in terms of the political participation of youth, through adopting ambitious national policies to promote the role of young people.


Lusaka meeting comes in the context of a series of meetings held by the African Union Commission to take concrete measures and plans to begin the implementation of the African agenda, it should be recalled. (SPS)
