Melbourne, April 20, 2015 (SPS) - The President of the Australia Western Sahara Association (AWSA), Ms Lyn Allison, demanded that the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) will include the monitoring of human rights in Western Sahara.
In a letter today to the President of the UN Security Council, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Jordan to the UN, H E Mrs Dina Kawar, the Association also demanded that the protection of the natural resources in Western Sahara will be included in the resolution that the Security Council will pass in the coming days.
Moreover the Association demanded that Morocco should be asked either to withdraw and end its occupation or accept without delay the organisation of the referendum on self-determination. (SPS)
