Dodoma (Tanzania)- Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Bernard Membe reaffirmed his country’s “strong opposition and condemnation” to the illegal occupation of Western Sahara by Morocco, reiterating Tanzania’s support to the Sahrawi people’s right to self-determination.

“We supported the resolution calling the Member States of the African Union, the civil institutions in Africa and all the international organizations to boycott the Crans Montana forum and to denounce the illegal occupation of Western Sahara,” said Membe in front of Tanzanian deputies during a parliamentary session.

The head of the Tanzanian diplomacy also reiterated his country’s support to the efforts made by the United Nations and the African Unions aimed at completing the decolonization process in Western Sahara through the organization of a free referendum allowing the Sahrawi people to freely exercise their right to self-determination.
