Chahid El Hafed, July 16, 2015 (SPS) .- Saharawi Jurists Union condemned Wednesday British-Irish company San Leon intention to conduct exploration on the outskirts of the city of El Aaiun, the occupied capital of Western Sahara.

"This is a flagrant violation of international law and the rights of the Saharawi people and its sovereignty over its natural resources," said USJ in a press release, stressing that "this decision is seen as a stimulus for these companies to occupation of Western Sahara et promotes the systematic plundering of Saharawi natural resources. "

This approach, it added, obstructs the process of decolonization of Western Sahara and contradicts the opinion of January 29, 2002 of the legal adviser to the UN, Hans Corell, that decreed clearly that the Saharawi people is the sole owner of its resources.

The statement called the company San Leon to correct and cancel this unacceptable orientation and at the same time urged the General Assembly of the UN and the Security Council to protect the rights and resources of the Saharawi people.

Finally, the USJ appealed international organizations and institutions to organize campaigns in order to enforce Sahrawi will against the looting and illegal exploitation of its resources by Morocco and complicit international companies. SPS
