Submitted on

Shaheed El Hafed, Jan 24, 2016 (SPS) – The Council of Ministers strongly condemned the arbitrary expulsion of more than 67 foreign observers of different nationalities by the Moroccan authorities from the occupied territories of Western Sahara, in a communiqué issued at the conclusion of its meeting held Saturday chaired by President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz.

The Council of Ministers stressed that this arbitrary eviction constitutes a gross violation of law and international standards and confirms that the Moroccan state exercises a military and media siege in the territory to hide its inhuman crimes against the Saharawi people.

The meeting which was briefed on the latest developments of the Intifada of independence, hailed the steadfastness and struggle of the Saharawi people in the occupied territories, in southern Morocco and university sites.

It also condemned the repression campaign committed against the defenseless Saharawi civilians ransacking their homes recently in the occupied cities of El Aaiun and Boujdour.

The Council expressed its grave concern regarding the deterioration of the State of health of Sahrawi prisoners on hunger strikes in Moroccan prisons, calling for their immediate release without conditions.

It also called the Moroccan occupation authorities to put an end to its policy of harassment and reprisals against Saharawi activists and accept the expansion of the mandate of MINURSO (UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara) to include the protection of human rights. (SPS)
