Shaheed Al-Hafed, October 29, 2024 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front , Mr. Brahim Ghali, received the African Union Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Professor Mohamed Belhocine, who is on a visit to the Sahrawi Republic and its educational institutions .

Following the meeting, Professor Mohamed Belhocine made statement to the national media saying, “today I had the opportunity to meet with the President of the Sahrawi Republic , the Secretary-General of the Polisario Front. This is a chance to reaffirm support for the efforts of the Sahrawi state in enhancing education.”

He added, “during my visit, I was able to observe the pioneering educational experience in the Sahrawi Republic despite the challenges of exile and limited resources, which is a source of pride.”

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario front, Mr. Khattri Addouh; the adviser to the Presidency in charge of media and the Arab world, Ms. Nana Labat Rashid, and the Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, Mr. Lamine Baali.

The AU Commissioner of Education, Professor Mohamed Belhocine, led a visit to schools and training centers to assess capabilities, needs, and challenges. He held interviews with teachers, school directors, and technical staff, in addition to meeting with international partners to identify joint work and collaborative efforts.

Earlier on Monday, Professor Mohamed Belhocine, the African Union Commissioner for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, began a field visit to the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic and its educational institutions at the helm of a delegation from the AU Department of Education.
