Cuba, 4 February 2024 (SPS) - In a closing statement, more than 100 delegates from the 29th South American Group for Voluntary Work and Solidarity with Cuba condemned the Moroccan occupation's practices of plundering Sahrawi natural resources. The statement was issued at the conclusion of the solidarity activity held at the José Antonio Maceo International Camp in Cuba.
The event was attended by the president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, Fernando González, as well as several delegations from the Working Group for Voluntary Work and Solidarity with Cuba, coming from several South American countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Ecuador, El Salvador and Uruguay.
The South American delegations arrived at Freedom Island in February of the previous year to carry out an intensive agenda of activities as part of their solidarity and volunteer efforts in support of the Cuban people.
