President Brahim Ghali congratulates his Kenyan counterpart on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Independence

Bir Lahlou (Liberated Territories), December 13, 2023 (SPS) - The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Polisario Front, Mr. Brahim Ghali, congratulated his Kenyan counterpart, Mr. William Ruto, on the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of Kenya’s independence.

“On behalf of the government and people of the Sahrawi Republic and on my own behalf, I take this opportunity to express our heartfelt congratulations to Your Excellency personally and through you to the government and people of Kenya on this great day as Kenya celebrates the 60th anniversary of independence,” said the congratulatory message.

The President of the Republic explained that Republic Day is one of the most prominent milestones in the history of the Kenyan nation and embodies the hope, aspirations and determination of the founding fathers who believed in an independent Kenyan nation, in addition to many other Kenyans who sacrificed their lives in the struggle to liberate Kenya and achieve its self-determination from the clutches of colonialism and foreign occupation.

Regarding the fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries, President Brahim Ghali noted that “with every challenge we face together, the friendship between the Sahrawi Republic and the Republic of Kenya is becoming more and more strengthened and that the common history and relations between African countries will bind us forever.”

The president of the Republic also considered his recent visit to Kenya to participate in the first-ever African Climate Summit reliable evidence of the fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries.

President Brahim Ghali added that the friendly, long-term relations and good cooperation between the two countries have developed continuously over the past years, expressing his confidence that the long-standing friendship and good cooperation between the Sahrawi Republic and the Republic of Kenya will be constantly strengthened.

The congratulatory message praised Kenya's support and contribution to the Sahrawi people and their just cause for self-determination and independence.

At the conclusion, the President of the Republic and Secretary-General of the Polisario Front expressed his best congratulations and sincere wishes for good health and happiness for President William Ruto, wishing the government and people of the brotherly Republic of Kenya further progress and prosperity.
