Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) November 10, 2016 (SPS) – the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sahrawi Republic, Mr. Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, on Thursday, has held a press conference at the headquarters of the African Union in Addis Ababa to clarify Sahrawi position of Morocco's bid to join the African Union.
the Saharawi minister gave journalists a comprehensive briefing on the latest developments of Sahrawi issue, focusing primarily on the intransigence and refusal of Morocco to respect its commitments with the Saharawi party and the United Nations, and its hindrance to the organization of a referendum of self-determination in Western Sahara throughout 26 years.
Saharawi minister said that the Moroccan request to join the African Union requires special handling from the African Union, including that Morocco is not like other African countries because of its occupation to an African member of the organization, and is also a colonial state, similar to apartheid regime.SPS
