UNMS condemns Pan-African Parliament Vice-President forced and arbitrary deportation

Chahid El Hafed, November 08, 2016 (SPS) - Moroccan authorities have arbitrarily deported Suelma Beiruk, vice-president of the Pan-African Parliament, who was forced to leave the airport in Marrakesh on a flight to Casablanca where she remained for hours until she was forced to take another flight to Oran in Algeria.
 
Suelma Beiruk, vice-president of the Pan-African Parliament, according to a press release issued by the National Union of Saharawi Women (UNMS) was to participate in the climate summit held in Marrakech from 7 to 18 under the auspices of the United Nations.
 
"in the face of this act of flagrant violation of human rights and contravention of international and diplomatic norms and treaties, the Saharawi women want to express our support and solidarity with Suelma Beiruk and denounce the arbitrary methods and practices carried out by the forces of occupation " added UNMS´s press release
 
The organization of the Saharawi women has demanded the United Nations and the international community to exert pressure on Morocco to cease the ongoing and systematic violation of human rights in the occupied zones of Western Sahara.
 
Saharawi women have also called that the territory be opened to international observers so that they can view closely the repression to which the Saharawi people under Moroccan occupation and especially the Saharawi women are subjected.
The UNMS also appeals the United Nations to create a mechanism to monitor human rights in Western Sahara. SPS
