Shaheed El Hafed (Refugee Camps), July 11, 2016 (SPS) - President of the Republic, Brahim Ghali, has received a message of congratulations from his Algerian counterpart President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, on his election on Saturday as Secretary General of Polisario Front and President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in which he reaffirmed "Algeria’s consistent solidarity" with Western Sahara people.
"On the occasion of your unanimous election as Secretary General of the Polisario Front and President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, I take this happy opportunity to send you, on behalf of Algeria, its people and its government, and on my own behalf, my sincere congratulations and best wishes of success in fulfilling your noble mission," said President Bouteflika in his message.
"Alongside your comrades, you have always demonstrated increased commitment to life and unparalleled strength to face trials. This quality earned you and your people the support of Africa and the solidarity of other peoples who love justice and believe in your just cause.”
“At no time during the armed struggle or during the negotiations in the last four decades, Western Sahara has shown hostility towards the other party, respecting thus the sacred human life and coexistence values with the neighbors, on the basis of a unifying vision focused on the future of all countries in the region," added President Bouteflika.
"While you are about to assume a heavy responsibility which was invested in late president Mohamed Abdelaziz, this man who is full of wisdom, foresight and sense of responsibility, this great leader whose qualities reflect values of his people, I reaffirm to you the steadfast solidarity of Algeria to its neighbor, the people of Western Sahara," concluded President Bouteflika.
