Death of President Mohamed Abdelaziz: Namibia reiterates support to Sahrawi struggle for independence

Windhoek, June 5, 2016 (SPS) - President of the Republic of Namibia, Dr. Hage G. Geingob, reiterated his country’s firm support to the struggle of the Sahrawi people for the independence, sovereignty and integrity of Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, in a letter to the Speaker of the National Council, the acting President of the Republic, Khatri Adouh, over the passing on Tuesday of President of the Republic, Secretary General of the Polisario Front, Mohamed Abdelaziz.
Here is the full text of the letter:
“I have learned with deep sadness of the passing on of His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Abdelaziz, President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic and Secretary General of the Polisario Front, on May31, 2016.
During this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with the government and people of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, as you mourn the death of your courageous and tenacious leader. Comrade Abdelaziz embodied the character of a true revolutionary and his leadership was guided by the ethos of bravery.
Namibia shares in your loss and mourning and hopes that the people of Sahrawi will find strength during these trying times of bereavement while at the same time reinforcing their resolve to continue fighting for the liberation of Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. We stand by you as you continue to fight for the independence, sovereignty and integrity of Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
On behalf of the government and people of the Republic of Namibia and indeed on my own behalf, I wish to convey our deepest condolences and sympathies to you, Honourable Speaker, and through you, to the people of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.
May the soul of Comrade Abdelaziz, rest in eternal peace. Aluta Continua!
