Three arrests in the occupied city of El Aaiun including a human rights activist

El Aaiun (occupied territories), 31/08/2006 (SPS) Three Saharawi citizens, including a member of the Saharawi Collective of human rights, based in the occupied city of El Aaiun, were arrested on Wednesday, after the distribution of a wide operation of distribution of the flags of the Saharawi flags in the different streets of 'Maatala' square, concordant sources indicated. The Saharawi youngsters: Najim Bellal Lahcen and Laroussi Ahmed Salem were arrested in 'Maatala' square by the Moroccan forces of repression before they ransacked many Saharawi houses and their furniture, the same sources added. The Saharawi human rights activist, El Haiba Mahmoud, alias (El Mah) was arrested in his shop and led to the police station of the occupied city of El Aaiun. He was ordered to close his shop definitively and to leave the occupied city of El Aaiun with his family as soon as possible, the same sources indicated. Mr. El Mah is 36 years old, married and father to a girl, was victim to forced disappearance twice and was abusively dismissed from his work because of his political opinions and his defence of the human rights in the Western Sahara, it should be recalled. On another hand, flags of the Saharawi Republic were fixed in many streets of the city of Goulimine and writing on the walls were advocating the Saharawi peopleĆ­s right to self-determination and the rejection of the Moroccan occupation.
