Status quo in Western Sahara is not in anyone’s interest, declares French FM

Paris, Nov 28, 2013 (SPS) - French Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ official spokesman, Romain Nadal, indicated that his country with the view that the status quo in Western Sahara “is not in anyone’s interest.”


“The status quo is not in anyone’s interest. We have long supported a fair, lasting and mutually political solution agreed upon by the two parties, under the auspices of the United Nations and in accordance with Security Council resolutions,” he said during a press conference.

Chahid Al Hafed (refugee camps), Nov 27, 2013 (SPS) - Eighty three years have passed since the creation of the Saharawi National Council (Parliament), formerly the interim Saharawi Council, on 28 November 1975, an event which laid the foundation of the Saharawi State, as regional and international truth.


Ceremonies marking the occasion began yesterday, Wednesday, across all the wilayas and institution of the Saharawi Republic (SADR) and expected to end today, Thursday.

Vigil outside Moroccan embassy in Pretoria to protest occupation of Western Sahara

Pretoria, Nov 27, 2013 (SPS) - A vigil to protest Morocco’s occupation of Western Sahara was organized today, Wednesday, outside the Moroccan embassy in South Africa, said a source from Saharawi Republic’s embassy in Pretoria.
The vigil, organized by the African National Congress (ANC), is part of a programme annually held by the South African movement of solidarity with the Saharawi people.

Greens criticizes EP fisheries committee’s vote on EU-Morocco’s agreement

Brussels, Nov 27, 2013 (SPS) - The Greens has criticised, in a press release issued Wednesday, the vote by European Parliament’s fisheries committee on the EU-Morocco fisheries agreement, to be voted on next December 10th.


EP’s fisheries committee voted today, Wednesday, in favour of a new EU-Morocco fisheries agreement, which includes the territorial waters of Western Saharta.

SNRW to present detailed report on Saharawi wealth plundering

The report entitled “Saharawis: Poor People in a Rich Country”.

European Parliament hosts seminar about EU-Morocco fisheries pact

Brussels, Nov 27, 2013 (SPS) - European Parliament hosted Tuesday a seminar about the fisheries agreement between the European Union and Morocco, expected to be voted on next December 10th.


This seminar was attended by the Saharawi Minister for Europe Mr. Mohamed Sidati, Polisario Front’s Representative to Brussels Mr. Mohamed Ali Zarouali, in addition to a Saharawi delegation from the occupied Western Sahara, which includes activists and trade unionists.

Algiers, Nov 27, 2013 (SPS) - Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) along with other 8 African countries will take part at the first African regional workshop on the “right to education for everyone,” to kick off today in Algiers, said Monday the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a communiqué, quoted by the Algerian Press Service (APS).


This three-day workshop will be organized by the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR).

Saharawi delegation awares about illegality of EU-Morocco’s fishing agreement

Brussels, Nov 26, 2013 (SPS) - A Saharawi delegation began Monday in Brussels an awareness campaign within the premises of the European Parliament to affirm that the fishing agreement between the EU and Morocco, to be voted on November 10th, should exclude the territorial waters of Western Sahara, said a source close to the delegation.

Moroccan violence against Saharawi women denounced in Tipasa

Tipasa (Algeria), Nov 26, 2013 (SPS) - Participants in a forum on violence against women, organized Monday in Tipasa, agreed to denounce all forms of violence against Saharawi women by the Moroccan occupier.


During this forum hosted by Radio Tipasa on the theme of “Stop violence against women”, the participants stressed the need to “continue struggle to free Saharawi women from Moroccan repression, including the daily physical and moral violations, which are condemned by all laws and charters around the world.”

NUSW calls on international community to end violence against Saharawi women

Boujdour (Saharawi refugee camps), November 25, 2013 (SPS) -  The National Union of Saharawi Women (NUSW) has called for an end to violence against Saharawi women in the occupied territories of Western Sahara, on the occasion of the ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women,’ celebrated November 25, every year.

 

"The Saharawi Women express their rejection to violence against women and all manifestations and forms of violence," said the Sahrawi women organization in a statement released Monday.

 

Iran nuclear programme: Agreement in Geneva

Geneva (Switzerland), November 25, 2013 (SPS) - Major powers and Iran has reached an agreement on that country’s controversial nuclear programme on the night of Saturday to Sunday in Geneva, European Union’s foriegn policy chief, Catherine Ashton, has said.

 

"We have reached an agreement," Michael Mann said on Twitter without elaborating. Preparations are under way at the United Nations in Geneva to officially announce the agreement, said French news agency AFP.

 

Saharawi refugees’ humanitarian issue can only be settled through "political" solution

Shaheed El-Hafedh (Saharawi Refugee Camps), November 25, 2013 (SPS) - Saharawi refugees’ humanitarian issue can only be settled through a "political" and a "definitive" solution, the chairman of the Saharawi Red Crescent, Buhobeini Yahia, told APS.

 

The Saharawi humanitarian issue cannot be settled without a "political" and a "definitive" solution through a referendum on self-determination, in line with the international legality," Buhobeini told APS in an interview.

 

8th edition of "Religions’ Dialogue for Peace" launches Tuesday in Saharawi refugee camps

 Shaheed El Hafedh (Saharawi refugee camps), November 24, 2013 (SPS ) – The Wilaya of  Boujdour,Saharawi refugee camps, will host Tuesday the 8th edition of "Religions’ Dialogue for Peace."

 

The edition is organized annually by Sahrawi Youth Union, U.S. organization "Not Forgotten International" and imams from Algeria.

 

This year's edition will be held under the theme: "Biography of the Prophet David (Peace Be Upon Him) in the Holy Books ," according to the organizers .
