Minister of Education and Vocational Training chairs session of AU Specialized Technical Committee on Education, Science, Technology and Innovation
Shaheed El Hafed, 30 January 2025 (SPS) – The Minister of Education and Vocational Training, member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Mr. Khatri Adouh, chaired today, Thursday, a session of the fifth bureau of the African Union's Specialized Technical Committee on Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
The session, held via remote communication, was in compliance with Article 9 (2) of the revised statute of the Pan-African University, which states that "the Executive Council shall elect the President and Vice President of the Pan-African University from a list of five candidates presented by the Bureau of the Specialized Technical Committee who shall be citizens of member states of the African Union."
The Bureau examined the applications of four candidates from Algeria, Libya, Egypt, and Côte d'Ivoire, to propose those with the necessary qualifications, experience, and expertise. Three applications were deemed eligible for the Executive Council to later choose a Vice President for the Pan-African University.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Khatri Adouh expressed gratitude to the members of the fifth Bureau of the Specialized Technical Committee on Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, its secretariat, and the legal counsel for their contributions to the success of the meeting. He also acknowledged the efforts of Professor Mohamed Belhocine during his tenure at the helm of the African Union’s Commission for Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
Mr. Khatri Adouh concluded by emphasizing the role of the Pan-African University in developing African competencies across various fields, which is crucial for our continent to harness all its potential and invest in development and progress.
