Submitted on

Rabat, December 26, 2024 (SPS) - The Moroccan Association for Human Rights confirmed that the statement by its president, Aziz Ghali, supporting the Sahrawi people's right to self-determination aligns with the historical positions of the Association and does not contradict the positions of the United Nations or the Moroccan state.

The Association condemned the escalating and relentless campaign against it and against the right to freedom of opinion and expression.

The Association emphasized that its stance on the Western Sahara conflict is consistent with the fourth paragraph of the UN Secretary-General's report dated October 1, 2024, which was approved by the Security Council.

It highlighted that Morocco endorsed this decision and that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on October 31, 2024, praising and endorsing it.

In a statement expressing solidarity with Aziz Ghali and all free voices in the kingdom, the Association stated that it is following with "deep concern and dismay, and without surprise, this escalating and relentless campaign against the Association and against the right to freedom of opinion and expression, as well as against critical opinions of state policies.
