Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), December 20, 2024 (SPS) - The Permanent Representative to Ethiopia and the African Union, Mr. Lamine Baali, received the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security of the African Union, Mr. Bankole Adeoye, at the Sahrawi embassy in Ethiopia.

The meeting allowed for discussions on the political situation in Africa, the prospects for bilateral relations, and ways to strengthen and enhance them to meet the aspirations of the continent's peoples for a safe and prosperous Africa under the banner of peace and progress.

The two parties also addressed the upcoming elections for the leadership of the African Union Commission, scheduled to be held in February 2025.

The Sahrawi ambassador briefed his guest on the latest developments regarding the national cause on all fronts, highlighting Africa's leading role in defending legitimacy and international law, respecting the will of peoples for liberation and emancipation, and resolving conflicts through peaceful means as a fundamental principle in the regulations and decisions of the African Union.
