Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad condemns attack on Sahrawib journalist, calls for urgent intervention to protect Sahrawis from Moroccan brutality

Shaheed Al-Hafed, November 19, 2024 (SPS) - The Ministry of Occupied Territories and Communities Abroad has expressed its condemnation of the attack against Sahrawi journalist and activist Mohamed Mayara, calling on the international community to intervene urgently to protect Sahrawis from the brutality of the occupation and its targeted actions against human rights defenders.

In a statement, the ministry stated its denunciation of the Moroccan escalation against human rights defenders and Sahrawi journalists, emphasizing the potential consequences of this deliberate escalation by the Moroccan occupation forces, which endangers the lives of innocent Sahrawi citizens and threatens their safety and physical well-being.

The statement highlighted that this ongoing attack would not have persisted without international silence and inaction concerning the military, police, and media blockade of the region, especially given the presence of a UN mission that is the only one in the world that does not monitor or report on the human rights situation.
