Chahid El-Hafed (Sahrawi Republic) 26 September 2024 (SPS) – An Algerian humanitarian aid convoy arrived on Thursday at the Sahrawi refugee camps, directed to the Sahrawi refugees of the Wilaya of Dakhla who have been affected by recent heavy rainfall.
The convoy, organized by the Algerian Red Crescent, includes a variety of aid supplies such as food, medicine, and other essential items. It was received at Tindouf airport by the President of the Algerian Red Crescent, Ibtissam Hamlaoui, and the Governor of the Algerian Province of Tindouf, Daho Mustafa, along with several Algerian military officials. The aid was then loaded for direct transportation to Dakhla province.
The Sahrawi Red Crescent expressed its gratitude to both the government and the people of Algeria, for their continued support and steadfast solidarity with the Sahrawi people.
Later in the day, the convoy was handed over in Dakhla to the Sahrawi Minister of Interior Brahim Beilla, in the presence of the President of the Algerian Red Crescent, Ibtissam Hamlaoui, the President of the Sahrawi Red Crescent, Bouhbini Yahya, as well as the governors of Dakhla refugee camp.
The Minister of Interior praised the initiative, stating that it reflects Algeria's unwavering and unconditional support for the Sahrawi people, describing Algeria’s position on the Sahrawi cause as "consistent and steadfast."
For her part, Ibtissam Hamlaoui, President of the Algerian Red Crescent, emphasized that this convoy is a reflection of the spirit of brotherly solidarity that characterizes Algerians towards their Sahrawi brothers.
She noted that the aid includes essential items to support those affected in these challenging times, and that it is part of Algeria's ongoing assistance.
Bouhbini Yahya, President of the Sahrawi Red Crescent, added that this is not the first convoy of its kind, highlighting that it reflects the deep solidarity between the Algerian and Sahrawi peoples, particularly in times of crisis.
The convoy includes tons of food supplies, medical drugs, and essential items such as bedding, which will be distributed to those affected by the heavy rains in Dakhla refugee camp. (SPS)
