Chahid El-Hafed (Sahrawi Republic) 24 September 2024 (SPS) - The Central Directorate of First Aid at the Sahrawi Red Crescent began on Tuesday distributing aid to families affected by the recent rainfall in Dakhla refugee camps.
In its daily briefing, the Sahrawi Red Crescent added that the aid distribution, carried out in collaboration with the regional authorities of the province and under the supervision of the Emergency Committee, will continue over the coming days.
The briefing noted that the aid distribution includes food, essential items, blankets, and tents. It highlighted that the rain caused damage to many homes and public buildings as water flooded hundred houses.
The briefing also stated that the Central Directorate of First Aid, Volunteering, and Disaster Management at the Sahrawi Red Crescent intervened by distributing camping necessities, including 300 tents, blankets, bottled water, water containers, as well as sanitization supplies and plastic covers.
The briefing emphasized that humanitarian cooperation and solidarity remain necessary, both at the local and international levels, stressing that a significant degree of partnership is required. It proudly acknowledged the popular response, which has contributed greatly to overcoming difficulties and fostering a positive public sentiment.
The Sahrawi Red Crescent also praised the intervention of the Algerian state and its relevant bodies, noting the importance of this support, especially given Algeria's solidarity and shared human and cultural values. (SPS)
