Algeria's Representative at Indonesia-Africa Forum: Suffering of Sahrawi people under occupation is evidence that decolonization process is not yet complete

Bali (Indonesia), September 3, 2024 (SPS) -  Algeria's Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprises, Yassine Walid, emphasized the importance of highlighting the suffering of the people of Western Sahara during the opening session of the Indonesia-Africa Forum held Monday in the Indonesian capital, Bali. He noted that this is an issue that deserves special attention from the international community.

In his speech, Walid pointed out that Western Sahara is still suffering from colonization, reminding the participants that "there is a people in Africa still struggling for their freedom, which is the Sahrawi people. Their suffering reminds us that the path to independence and self-determination is not yet complete."

Regarding the Palestinian cause, the representative of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria at this forum also reminded the audience that it is not possible to "ignore the suffering of the Palestinian people, who are seeking freedom and an end to one of the most heinous genocides in modern history, which continues in Gaza." This expressed Algeria's principled stance on both the Sahrawi and Palestinian issues.
