Signing of cooperation agreement in Spanish region of Madrid to support Sahrawi people

 Madrid (Spain), July 16, 2024 (SPS) - An agreement was signed Tuesday to support the Sahrawi people in the town of Tres Cantos in the Madrid region between the Association of Friends of the Sahrawi People and the Municipal Council and the Representation of the Polisario Front in the Madrid region, where the Mayor of Tres Cantos, Mr. Jesús Moreno, and the President of the Association of Friends of the Sahrawi People, Ms. Carmen de Gregorio, signed the agreement.

On the occasion of signing the agreement, the Mayor reiterated his government's commitment to participating in all projects and providing support for the benefit of the Sahrawi people.

For her part, the President of the Association reaffirmed her commitment to working towards the Sahrawi people in all political and cultural fields in order to accelerate a just solution that ends this conflict.

The representative of the Polisario Front in the Madrid region, Ms. Jadihetu Lmajtar, thanked the city of Tres Cantos for the support and solidarity, and for the effective role in alleviating the suffering of the Sahrawis living in refugee camps due to the Moroccan occupation of parts of the Sahrawi Republic. She called for contributing to empowering the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination.

Jadihetu Lmajtar also called on the Spanish government to assume its historical responsibility in decolonizing Western Sahara and stopping the plunder of its natural resources, in accordance with the rulings of the European Court of Justice, so that the Sahrawi people can achieve their freedom and independence.
