Shaheed Al-Hafid, July 11, 2024 (SPS) - The Ministry of Public Health warned today in a statement, public about heat-related illnesses amid rising temperatures and called for the necessity of adhering to preventive measures.
The same statement explained that "based on the meteorological forecasts in the region, which expect an increasing rise in temperatures during these days, the Ministry of Public Health urges all Sahrawi citizens, especially in the Sahrawi refugee camps, to take the maximum precaution against the repercussions of the heat wave during these days."
Prevention Tips
Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of fluids, especially water.
Stay Cool: Spend time in air-conditioned environments.
Dress Appropriately: Wear lightweight, light-coloured, and loose-fitting clothing. Use turbans, hats and sunscreen when outdoors.
Limit Outdoor Activities: Limit strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day, typically between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Plan outdoor events for the cooler morning or evening hours. Take frequent breaks in the shade or indoors if you must be outside.
Check on Vulnerable Individuals: Ensure that family members, friends, and neighbours, especially those who are elderly or have health conditions, are staying cool and hydrated.
