Addis Ababa, July 2, 2024 (SPS) – The Member of the National Secretariat and Minister of Education, Mr. Khatri Addouh is participating in the First African Union Pan-African Conference on Girls and Women’s Education organized in collaboration with UN Agencies, AU Organs and departments, development partners, organizations promoting girls and women’s education, youth champions on girls’ education, from July 2 to 5, 2024, at the headquarters of the African Union, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The conference which brings together all key voices on girls and women’s education on the continent is organized under the theme, “Prioritizing Girls and Women’s Education: A Strategy for increased access to inclusive, lifelong, quality, and relevant learning in Africa.”
The first day of the conference witnessed the holding of the 8th High-Level Dialogue on Gender Equality in Education, and was concluded with answering questions addressed to ministers and senior officials concerned with education and gender in Africa.
Minister Khatri Addouh made an intervention within the framework of the 8th High-Level Dialogue on Gender Equality in Education, in which he thanked the host country, Ethiopia, for its generous hospitality and warm reception, expressing his appreciation for the continuous efforts of the Commissioner for Education for the gains achieved in the field of education, science, technology and innovation, which culminated in the agreement of African leaders to make 2024 a special year for education in Africa.
In his speech, the Minister focused on the pioneering Sahrawi experience in the field of educating Sahrawi girls and women in the context of refugee status regardless of the difficulties and challenges.
