South African delegation meets with Sahrawi officials

Shaheed El Hafed, February 26, 2024 (SPS) - The Chargé d'Affaires at the South African Embassy to Algeria and the Sahrawi Republic, Mr. Patrick Rankhumise, accompanied by the First Secretary, Mr. Bernard Legodi, met Monday with Sahrawi officials as part of the working visit of this delegation to the Sahrawi Republic and the Sahrawi refugee camps.

The South African delegation was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, Mr. Mohamed Sidati, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Mohamed Mouloud Mohamed Fadel, and the Minister of Information, Mr. Hamada Selma.

During these meetings, the South African delegation reiterated the firm position on the issue of the Sahrawi people and their just struggle for freedom and national independence throughout the territory of the Sahrawi Republic. They also discussed ways to enhance and strengthen the strong relations between the two countries, as well as cooperation and partnership in various fields.

For their part, the Sahrawi officials expressed their appreciation for the continuous support of South Africa and its solidarity with the Sahrawi people and their just cause. They also briefed the delegation on the latest developments in the Sahrawi issue.

The South African delegation, which arrived on Saturday morning, visited the wilaya of Awsard, where they were received by member of the National Secretariat of the Polisario Front, the governor of the wilaya, Mrs. Khaira Bulahi. They also visited institutions and facilities in the wilaya.

The delegation will also attend the celebrations commemorating the forty-eighth anniversary of the proclamation of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), which will be held in the wilaya of Smara in the Sahrawi refugee camps.
