Smara (occupied territories), Oct 20, 2013 (SPS) - UN Secretary General’s Personal Envoy for Western Sahara Mr. Christopher Ross arrived Sunday morning in the occupied Saharawi city of Smara, as part of a tour in the region, amid tight Moroccan security measures, said Saharawi Ministry of Occupied Territories and Diaspora.

Ross, who is accompanied by the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative for Western Sahara Mr. Wolfgang Weisbrod-Weber, held talks at MINURSO headquarters in occupied Smara with several human rights activists.

In parallel with this meeting, Moroccan forces of repression mobilized its military and civilian vehicles around MINURSO’s headquarters.

They, therefore, imposed a tight security siege in the streets and neighborhoods in the occupied city of Smara, in the aim to deter the Saharawis from claiming their right to freedom and independence peacefully. (SPS)
